Go West young man, well 2 oldies went North up to Lairg to do a little research for the Sheriffston layout. We needed to have a look at a Fuel depot to get some ideas. But got some pics of Lairg stn & yard. The yard is a little over grown with disuse, but it did throw up one

     
curiosity, a US point lever, as can be seen by the label above, haven't seen one before in situ, especially this far north, any info grateful. O yes the fuel depot, after speaking to a very helpful staff member we got what we came for and a pic of 158703 going north.

     
From Lairg to Invershin & Culrain. Bill told me that the trip from Culrain
to Invershin stn was once the cheapest ticket in the UK. Just loved curve going south from stn, the plaque gave a laugh, no name, and the shelter after modernisation, big ?. But compared to Invershin stn. Another

     

The picture to the left, the bracket, has now been identified as an old lamp bracket by Brian S.

abandoned stn, ruined & roofless. If you know what the above is ^ let me know, its just sticking out of the wall. Best view of the day by far the Oykel viaduct at Invershin, would have been better with loco crossing.  

     
Second day run up to Lairg to photograph the fuel train, arrived just as 66030 was on run round to couple back up before shunting into the depot, it went down the line, croosed over & came back up. Little bit of a wait for the Wick/Thurso train to arrive.

     
Wick/Thurso service duly arrived. 66030 continued its shunting back & forth. until wagons in depot Service to Wick/Thurso departs

     
Dusty & Lynn's day at Strathspey. HR signal at Broomhill or to some Glen Boggle. Class 31 at Aviemore. Then a return trip down the line hauled by good old restored Caledonian loco 828.

Tuesday 16th July saw a birthday trip on the West Highland line to Mallaig for Dusty, here are some snaps from the trip. First spot was of 37518 parked up at Ft Will.. Surprised to see it in Inter City livery. The loco 44871, all
     
fired up and ready to go. The over night sleeper with 67007 note white numbers. The snow plough at Glenfinnan, This atmospheric shot taken by Dusty departing Glenfinnan. Last spot of the day a 156 at Ft William, rare to us in Moray
